New York City Procures Enterprise License For Accela’s Civic Platform
Complete Civic Platform for Enterprise Licensing, Permitting and Inspection Strengthens Communication with Citizens, Businesses and Professionals
SAN RAMON, Calif. – July 8, 2013 – Accela, Inc., the leading provider of civic engagement solutions for government agencies, announced today that New York City has selected Accela’s Civic Platform for an Enterprise License Agreement across solutions including licensing, permitting, inspection, zoning and code enforcement. With a population of 8.3 million distributed over a land area of just 302 square miles, New York is the most densely populated major city in the United States. The City will leverage Accela Automation®, Accela Citizen Access, and Civic Apps to meet their expansive use of mobility for inspectors.
Accela’s Civic Platform is designed to increase transparency, improve two-way communication between government agencies and the businesses and citizens they serve, and automate and streamline key civic processes. The platform provides powerful web and mobile technologies that facilitate productivity for government workers and allow citizens to engage with their agencies 24X7.The solutions will be used across various agencies including the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, the Department of Consumer Affairs, Small Business Services, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Buildings.

Accela Citizen Access™ delivering a cost-effective way to move traditional counter and call center services to the Web, providing citizens with easy and convenient online access to an agency’s permitting, licensing, and asset information and activities. By streamlining processes and providing more self-service options, tasks that had previously taken days to complete can now take just hours, or even minutes, leaving staff more time to focus on other job functions and leaving contractors, business owners, homeowners, and other members of the community more time to attend to the demands of their busy schedules.
Accela Civic Apps allowing access to inspection information from Apple iOS devices, such as the iPhone and iPad, Android devices, and Windows 8 mobile devices and tablet PCs. Accela Mobile Apps, such as Accela Inspector, provide greater convenience and faster turnaround time for field inspectors and end users. Accela’s Mobile Apps also include Accela GIS™, which integrates ESRI ArcGIS for planning entitlements, building permits, improvement plans, and code enforcement.
